Research questions:

We study the genetic and developmental bases of morphological evolution within and among Drosophila species. We focus on finding the genes underlying differences in compound eye and male genital morphology, how they alter the development of these structures, and the functional and behavioral consequences of these morphological changes.

Research organisms:

Drosophila melanogaster, Drosophila simulans, Drosophila mauritiana and Drosophila suzukii.

Experimental & Bioinformatic expertise:

Drosophila genetics, CRISPR/Cas9, enhancer function, gene and protein expression analyses, genomics and transcriptomics.
