How is compound eye morphology and eye size determined developmentally and how has this mechanism evolved between Drosophila species?
How does temperature differentially affect compound eye development in Drosophila strains and species?
How do eye morphology and vision differ between Drosophila suzukii winter and summer morphs?
Research organisms: Drosophila (various species)
Experimental & Bioinformatic expertise:
– Electron microscopy (sample prep, SEM, SBF-SEM and TEM imaging and image analysis)
– Synchrotron radioation micro CT (sample prep, tomography acquisition and image analysis)
– Immunohistochemistry of imaginal discs
