Research Interests
Molecular Biology, Microbial Ecology, Hologenomics, Herpetology, Bioinformatics and Statistics, Evolution and Coevolution.

I am a microbial ecologist interested in evaluating how ecological and evolutionary factors influence the gut microbial communities of wild populations, particularly in ectothermic animals.

Research organisms:
The UNAH- Genetics team is diverse and multidisciplinary. We work with amphibians, reptiles, and birds, but we also have a botanist in our group.

Experimental & Bioinformatic expertise:
During my PhD, I used diverse molecular tools to assess how different environmental factors and evolutionary aspects impact the gut bacterial communities and diet composition of Sceloporus lizard species inhabiting a mountainous region in central Mexico. I applied a wide variety of molecular techniques, bioinformatic pipelines, and statistical methods to examine in parallel the association between dietary seasonal patterns and temporal variability in gut microbiota composition. Furthermore, by combining animal genomic and microbial metagenomic.
